In addition, the University-Business Foundation develops other tasks such as promoting studies, organising postgraduate and specialisation courses, managing company placements, or participating in European programmes. Solidarity: The South-North Trust
Set up in 1991 with the aim of disseminating the objectives in Article 4 in the Statutes of University of Valencia, the Trust wants to strengthen the commitment of university to add to the intellectual and material development of the different peoples, and to the defence of the environment and peace. The programme goals of the Trust are to promote training, awareness, and commitment from new values, and to implement cooperation actions for development and solidarity with less favoured countries. The South-North Trust takes part in the coordination of the programme and budget 0.7 The ‘Nau’ of Solidarity. These are the action programmes: Fee exemption for studentsOn a yearly basis, the Trust offers funds for enrolment fees for students from developing countries who have kept their nationalities and carry out official studies of either 1st, 2nd or 3rd cycles in the Universitat centres. Application forms can be picked up from the centre offices together with the enrolment envelope. The deadline for submission is that established for enrolment in each centre. The help accounts for 35 or 60% of the total enrolment fee, depending on the academic records and eligibility of the applicant. Cooperation development projectsThe Trust coordinates, advises, and manages cooperation projects initiated by different University of Valencia bodies and the General Foundation. The projects are usually funded by different public institutions through the existing calls where the selected cooperation projects are submitted. By contributing 0.7% of the payrolls of the university members, a pluri-annual development project is implemented. So far the funds have gone to the University of León in Nicaragua. University cooperationIn cooperation with other university organisations and Development NGOs, different activities and awareness campaigns are jointly organised, based on management skills and the articulation of projects and initiatives in which cooperation and development lecturers and specialists take part. The Trust participates in the Solidarity Commission of the Joan Lluís Vives Institute university network and coordinates an academic inter-university project in Prishtina University in Kosovo. TrainingSponsored by Bancaixa, this programme selects lecturers and specialists from other countries every year by means of an international merit and education project tender aimed at departments, institutes and teaching units from University of Valencia. The selected candidates develop specific training offers: The Unesco Professorship for Development Studies, through which
